While the novella continued the amazing one set up in the first in the series, this second installment did not fulfill the promise of the first and felt rushed in many places. There was light review, but I was lost about midway through when a character was re-introduced without enough context/review to remind me of her role. The romantic relationship felt a little bit forced and the schism between main characters was not consistent with who they were in the first book. I will definitely continue reading in the series, but I wanted more from this book.

Just as good as A Spindle Splintered, and possibly better. This sapphic YA novel is one that I would actually listen to again and enjoy, and I rarely reread my books. The swearing is kind of unnecessary, but otherwise it is really well put together. Eager for the next volume to be released! Would recommend this book to any older youth or adult who enjoys a fractured fairytale, or anyone who appreciates queer reads. Well done!

(ALC received from NetGalley in exchange for honest review. Thank you.)

Similar feelings about this novella as the last one I read, but I feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that I finished this duology.

Despite everything, I will say conceptually this was an ending that worked well for what there is. Again, I do wish these two novellas were full novels, because of how fleshed out everything could be and how much more the stories would get me.

the first one was better in so many ways. this had a couple funny-ish parts & the audiobook narrator is good, but otherwise i cared about nothing going on
