This year for my December present to myself, I joined the Governerd Book Club, hosted by Sharon McMahon & her team. My mind is blown. After reading & listening to this book I learned more about our history and the laws our country had in place than I ever did in school. I definitely will not do this book justice in trying to review it for you, so here are some of the quotes that stuck with me, and a couple of things I learned:

The Immigration Act of 1924 established an annual quota (fixed in 1929 at 150,000) and established the national-origins system, which was to characterize immigration policy for the next 40 years. Under it, quotas were established for each country based on the number of persons of that national origin who were living in the United States in 1920.

“He discovered that if he said something often enough, no matter how untrue, people would believe it.”

“Madge Oberholtzer deserves a plaque of her own.” We as human beings could only HOPE to have one iota of the strength, courage and wherewithal to be and do what she has done. This case is still taught in law schools as showing an enlargement of the causal relationships that define homicide.
