This was one of the most fascinating stores I have ever read. I knew that the Klan's hayday was in the twenties but I had no idea who prolific they had become. They were running the country, state, city and county all over the US. Also, I never knew how ingrained they had become in the North and West. I live in CO and did not know our history on this topic. Absolutely a must read for all Americans because it is something that can happen again. It may not be the Klan or even about white supremacy but when a certain group gets too much power, in small steps, that people do not even see as harmful, that is how they do it. Rights are taken away, changes in the name of Americanism, etc. So scary!

Wow, this was a wild ride. If you have any interest in the history of the KKK, government corruption, racism, the 1920’s, etc. you’d find this fascinating. Really well written. It took me awhile to get through because DC Stephenson was a real bad dude and it was hard to listen to all of his hatred and violence. Glad I read it though.
