I read this before but never actually wrote out a review for it. As the prequel to the murdertrending series this was one of the books I was most excited about when it came out although having read it two times that makes it the least reread book of the series for me…not that it doesn’t deserve rereads. I remember being surprised by the twist the first time I read this and while this is the second and therefore no longer surprising, like the other books in the series I still enjoy rereading for the details crafted into the story. There is not likely to ever be another book in the series but I can keep hoping and hope I will.

My sister saw this on the shelves at the library and vetoed it, but I thought it looked interesting. I've heard of the series before but it didn't really catch my interest, since it was set in the future, and I'm not into future books right now. But this is set in the current era and it sounded like it was a standalone.
I am so glad I got this out.
It was a great read. I definitely had fun and plan on seeking out the rest of the series. I read most of it yesterday and the only thing that stopped me from finishing it was me literally falling asleep while reading. I was not expecting to get so drawn into this. I'm not really an escape room person, and usually the whole "trapped in room and have to do terrible things to get out" thing is...often too much for me, but I think this was really well done. Definitely recommend it.

I knew all these books had some sort of connection but I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT it was amazing and then the last chapter came along and absolutely shocked me it was incredible!
