This one just didn’t work for me. I was so looking forward to Munro.

After 4 years of waiting, it’s easy to believe that it will be amazing, and it was !! I really love it, enjoyed it.
So heartbreaking moments, so many actions, turn of events.

Ren is a fierce huntress who is not easily scared, she’s decided to fight destiny and to have things her way.
Whereas Munro is supposed to be the reasonable twin, the one Lykae who knows how to control himself and never unleash his beast. However, fate is in control and the Ascension is near shattering the universe.

I cannot wait for the next book, and just read it again, and read all of them again because all of them are phenomenal !!!

It was almost a year exactly between me reading the previous IAD book and this one. I know that I did not have as long of a wait as other readers of this series since I came to it late, but I somehow feel that break took away the momentum of the overall series for me.

Things started very strong. Munro’s captivity and how he and Ren first meet drew me right into the story. I needed to know how Munro would find her again. Ren’s confidence and ability to fight for herself are inspiring. There is chemistry and heat even though Ren despises Munro and anything to do with the Lore. But eventually, Ren’s blindness to what is obvious becomes a bit trying. And Munro’s inability to give Ren even a second to breathe after her world was turned upside down and, I don’t know, maybe explaining things more than “you’re my mate” would have helped.

I did enjoy that the character of Loa was fleshed out a tiny bit more. She’s still a huge mystery. There is also quite a bit with Lothaire in this book. Not that he takes over the story, but enough to give me some laughs at his audacity and have me smiling about his love for his mate. Yet the scenes with Dorada seemed forced and convenient. And, quite frankly, I don’t know what the heck is going on with Nix. Unfortunately, I don’t mean that in a “that kooky Nix” sort of way, but in an annoying sort of way.

So I guess you could say this story was all over the place for me. Which was not what I expected. Plus, any time there was a description of a she-wolf all I could think of was a cartoon of a wolf dressing up as a human woman and Bugs Bunny or some other character whistling at her. Were there descriptions in other books? Because I don’t remember feeling as though the female Lykae were so cartoonish.

Great read, as always with Kresley Cole, but for me personally, this was not the top of her immortals after dark series. More so based on my preference of types of female leads rather than on anything to do with the writing. Amazing series and author though. I'm so looking forward to what's in store next.

Worth the Wait

I love it when a book actually makes me laugh out loud! KC has the corner on immortal humor :). This latest installment was a breath of fresh air and a reunion with old friends. And the ending? Whew!
