When it makes me want to cry of happiness or it hurts so much I can’t breathe, I know I’ve read a good damn book.

Let me start by saying that not one day goes by that these people aren’t facing one threat or another. No one gets a break. When someone isn’t trying to kill them *and someone is ALWAYS trying*, they are trying to kill a each other. When yet another complication isn’t dropped into their lap, someone appears to make matters worse or better. Everyone seems to have gotten the invitation to this particular party; and when I say everyone, I mean everyone. We have people we’ve never seen before and we have people from [b:The Assassin's Blade|18243700|The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5)|Sarah J. It’s a roller coaster, that’s how I can describe Empire of Storms. Not one dull moment.

I am at a loss for words. The cunning little mind of Aelin Ashryver is just something else. I applaud you, [a:Sarah J. Maas|3433047|Sarah J. Maas|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1582137198p2/3433047.jpg] for keeping this book a masterpiece to its very end. It was so interesting to see how the things SJM has been planing since [b:Heir of Fire|20613470|Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3)|Sarah J. Maas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1460846511l/20613470._SY75_.jpg|25128502] and even [b:Throne of Glass|7896527|Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)|Sarah J. How every little detail had some importance and how everything, somehow, was intertwined.

Manon, Asterin, Manon, Asterin, Manon, Asterin. I just don’t know what to say. Finally Manon Blackbeak has shown she has a heart, little as it may be. These two are just... something else. The suspense and the terror of what was sure to happen... I’m just speechless. In Queen of Shadows I loved Asterin and her story about the guy she fell in love with broke my heart to pieces. The Blackbeak Matron deserves to die just for that alone, but everything she reveals in Empire of Storms makes me want to strangle her myself. This girl and everything she’s been through, everything’s she’d left behind and her blind loyalty to Manon... I just want to hug her and tell her everything will be alright.

The best way I can describe Manon in this book is in SJM words’ wicked delight. I have come to like this witch very much. I once said she’s badassery brought to life and this is still true. Manon and Dorian... they could set the world on fire if they wanted to. They are HOT. I don’t know why I like them together, but I do. And when that inevitably happens...

His lips twitched, though the smile was cold and sensuous in a way that made her wonder what playing with a king blessed with raw magic might be like.

He leaned over her, nearly nose-to-nose, nothing at all amused in his face, in the cut of his cruel, beautiful mouth, as he said, “I don’t think you can handle the sort of things I need, witchling. And I am never begging for anything again in my life.”

“Bigger tits won’t prove or hide anything.” My favorite thing Lorcan has said to this day. Now, Lorcan and Elide? I’m here for it. I’m shipping them so hard it hurts. Them together? It would weirdly work. Seems to me like they need each other in their lives.

I just want to squish Aedion and Lysandra together, see what will come out of it. They are so cute.

Aedion lowered his voice, holding her pained, exhausted stare. “Because I am going to marry you,” he promised her. “One day. I am going to marry you. I’ll be generous and let you pick when, even if it’s ten years from now. Or twenty. But one day, you are going to be my wife.”

The best way I can describe Rowan and Aelin is through a series of quotes, I’ll leave the rest to your imagination:

“And what I said still holds. I’m not taking you against a tree the first time.”

She’d been in love with him for a while now. Longer than she wanted to admit.

“I would have fought for the rest of my life to find a way to return to you again. I knew it the moment you emerged from the Valg’s darkness and smiled at me through your flames.”

“I love you. There is no limit to what I can give to you, no time I need. Even when this world is a forgotten whisper of dust between the stars, I will love you.”

“I love you,” Rowan breathed onto her skin, and flicked his tongue over the spot where his canines had scratched. “I’d walk into the burning heart of hell itself to find you.”

I want Maeve dead. I want her suffering a painful death, more painful than the one I wished on Arobynn of the King. I want her begging for someone to kill her, death being more easy than the suffering I want her to experience. The way this woman has made everyone suffer for her entertainment is just... I can’t. I want her dead.

I found that whereas [b:Queen of Shadows|18006496|Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4)|Sarah J. Of finding out that they don’t have to do everything on their own and that there is some good left in people, little as it may be. And because of it, some really unlikely people found their way to each other in this book.

I have no words - aelin is a mastermind - and I am devastated

Wow. Just w o w ! this book was EVERYTHING. I adored how everyone’s paths aligned it all came together so nicely, never thought I’d be rooting for elide and lorcan but here we are, I found myself just craving their chapters SO much. Elides strength was so admirable I love her.

As for Aelin. I just do not have the words to describe how much I love her. When her schemes and plans were revealed my jaw dropped.
“You will find, Rolfe, that one does not deal with Celaena Sardothien , one survives her”

I’m unwell

This book was SOOOOO GOOD!!!! It took me so long to finish it because honestly the thought of the tandem read and having 1300 pages or more to get through just seemed horrible but once I forced myself to reopen the books I couldn’t put them down until 3 am every night. I definitely already know how KOA is going to end but I’m lowkey hoping there’s some major plot twists so that I’m wrong cuz if not then … I’m gonna be depressed. I haven’t read any spoilers for KOA so far and I’m so lucky not to have but I’m predicting Dorian is going down with the Lock … hate to say it but no way Sarah J Maas would kill off Aelin and leave Rowan broken-hearted … right??? Also, finally revealed they were mates after what like 5 books? I definitely could have told them that during Heir of Fire but the revelation was so worth waiting for. I’m sad that I have to read like 100 more pages of TOD before I can start KOA because I’m eager to know what’s going to happen but looking forward to seeing Chaol’s story ending and how they regroup with Aelin’s forces … hopefully.

Absolutely incredible progression of the story. Loved the character development. Loved the action. Might be my favorite in the series. (Read in tandem with Tower of Dawn).
