3.25 - liked it ok
This is the third book in the series following BSI agents Cooper Dayton and Oliver Park. In this book, they're very firmly in a relationship with each other, no question about it.
Park has always been rather tight-lipped about his family, the famous Parks of the werewolf world. When his grandpa dies, he asks Cooper to come with to the funeral. Cooper agrees. What Cooper doesn't fully understand is how little his partner has prepared him for his family, who don't like the BSI, and aren't the biggest fan of interspecies relationships. They didn't even know he was a human before coming.
Cooper is thrown to the wolves and left floundering by Park, who closes up in close quarters with those that trigger him. He's hiding a past with them too, a past he doesn't want Cooper to find out about.
It turns out, as is the case with all the books in this series, that there's treachery afoot. The alpha of the Park clan has died, and his death is mysterious in nature. Someone's trying to manipulate people and things to happen, and Cooper is determined to get to the bottom of it, all while receiving very little support from his clam of a partner.
This book was alright. The murder mystery in every book is getting a bit tired IMO, but not in an exasperating way. What was exasperating was Park. While his behavior in this book is fairly in line with his established character (doesn't want to talk about his family, freeze response, etc), it's frustrating to see how little he's there for Cooper, who he supposedly loves the shit out of. Cooper is in an actively hostile situation to him as a fragile human, and doesn't know the culture or the people surrounding him, and Park doesn't do much to help with that.
The mystery itself wasn't particularly compelling; at no point was I really interesting in who really was stirring the pot and killed Park's Grandpa.
Overall, probably was my least favorite in the series, but it was written well. Recommended if you like miscommunication, high angst, werewolves, and gay romance.

Yay, finally met the Park pack but damn, I didnt think it would be that bad, but I like how Adhara added the difficulties of living as a wolf in today's society and mentioned things I would never have thought of.
The crime part was a bit lacking but I gotta say, the plot twist got me at the end.
Again I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of show don't tell - especially when Cooper and Oliver were fighting and Cooper said he didn't do communication and vulnerability but he is trying for himself and Oliver - e.g. that he also felt bad when Oliver saw him vomiting because of his missing intestines.
I wanted to read and live these vulnerable moments of Cooper.
But at least we finally got a happy Oliver and his wolf form! Loved Cooper's reaction of wanting to pet him but then stopping because he didn't want Oliver to feel like a pet.. aahhh but same, when I see fluff, I need to bury my face in it!
So the guys will move in together and be partners again at the T. Good for you Cooper, fuck the BSI after that guy just tasered Oliver.
I'm definitely curious about their new life.
Fave Quotes:
- " [...] had shaped him into someone who'd do anything, be anything, be anyone, for love. That sounded romantic. It wasn't"
- "But I work on it because, to me, you're worth it. And you know what, Oliver? I'm worth it, too"
