I liked this much better than the Priory of the Orange Tree. I enjoyed following the characters from a young age and watching them grow up. My only issue with it was that it dragged a bit in the middle, but that’s to be expected with such a dense fantasy story.

This was also a great pick to read for June! It had fantastic LGBTQ+ representation.

I can’t decide if it’s better to read PotOT first or aDoFN. I think it could be read in either order, but there is a lot of discussion of the mother and the saint in this book that wouldn’t make sense unless you read Priory.

Fabulous complex characters, great story beats that all wove together in a satisfying way, tense politics and awesome dragons.

This book differs, in a good way, from its predecessor by focusing its conflict more on the supernatural elements than the political ones. It still felt like the same.universe but we got to see so much more that was left to be discovered from the first book. I enjoyed it very much. I'd love to see a book detailing the original Dreadmount eruption and the Snow Maiden

SUCH a good prequel to Priory of the Orange Tree!! So obsessed with this and could see it all so perfectly and cinematically. Somehow even better than POTOT and that’s saying something! Queer characters, POC rep and incredible fantasy plot ❤️
