The Sapphire Affair by Lauren Blakely

It's hard to image the man who raised you might not be on the right side of anything. Not the right side of the fidelity, not the right side of divorce, and certainly nothing so pesky as the right side of the law.

Steph is determined to help her mother and hopefully persuade her stepfather to do right by her mom. It seems that her naivete might be waning. Just in time too, for a stupidly island rendezvous that turns out to be so much more.

I was really excited for these books. I think it's an intriguing idea. The storyline is fun and the characters have intense chemistry. I think I just expected more. More umph from a Lauren Blakely book, more pull from the story to keep me entertained, more heat.

Jake and Steph have sexual chemistry through the roof. Jake is handsome, rugged, dirty talker, and very good with his hands. Steph has the ability to keep the verbal and sexual banter going between her and Jake which leads to some very HOT scenes. Since this book is part one of a two book series I found it to be slow. (Personal thought here). Love the story line, great writing as always by Lauren Blakely. If you like cliffhangers perfect first installment for a summer read. If you prefer HEA's keep reading/waiting for August 16th, it is sure to come knowing this author. You honestly can not go wrong this a Blakely book. The characters are in depth, funny at times, and take you to a whole new world with each book you read.

So this is the first time i have read this Author

It wasn't really for me it just felt a bit bland... Like nothing was really going on...

The humor was really cheesy and a little cringe worthy... I dont know if it was the Audio or the writing.....

Jake and Steph team up together to hunt down some jewels to replace some money that may or may not have been stolen by a night club owner who happens to be Stephs stepfather.....

is the main gist... Obviously sexual tension between Steph and Jake... and they wouldn't give in for professional reasons.... That plan goes down the toilet pretty fast.... Hardest body and best legs won out....

I wasnt keen on the plot or the characters.... Not for me.

The Sapphire is the perfect, fun, summer, relaxing by the poolside read. It was addicting and easy to get lost in. It's fun and flirty. Full of adventure, mystery, humor, and steamy sexual chemistry. Steph and Jake could not be more perfect for each other. My favorite thing in books is witty banter. A good verbal sparing and I'm done for. Well, Lauren Blakely continues to master that in the Sapphire Affair. The back and forth between Jake and Steph is equal parts smart, sexy, and magical. I love this book.

Sapphire Affair is book one of two and ends in a cliffhanger. Thankfully, the next book, The Sapphire Heist will be released a month later. I eagerly waiting the continuation of Steph and Jake story. I just need time to move a little faster.

Well thank God Netgalley for finally approving my request to read this. Now I've got that off my chest I can continue with my review.

4.5 'Truth & Dare' Stars.

From the first word to the last word I was hooked.

“Fine, I knew you were a pain in the ass,” he added. “Gee, thanks.” “I knew you were going to drive me crazy.” “You drive me crazy, too.” She countered, parking her hands on her hips. “Sounds like we’re just about even then.”

This is an engaging, entertaining, exciting and excellent read. The story and the characters sucked me in with a fun and original plot a perfect book for reading at the beach.

Steph Anderson is finally getting her business back on track after her ex nearly ruined her just out of spite nothing more nothing less. Steph's next trip is to the Caymans.

Side note if there is one place I've always wanted to go then it would be the Caymans. I'd go for the weather, 364 days of sun and let's not forget the lack of taxes

Steph is trying to find out what happened to the money her stepdad never gave back to her mother after the divorce. He just so happens to live on the Caymans so she travels a couple of days earlier to start her search with the contacts she has.

Jake Harlowe is a retrieval expert. He has retrieved a lot of priceless items for very influential people. After acquiring the violin back his next job is to find out what happened to the money of a hedge fund. It leads him to the Caymans and in the Pink Pelican, the happy turtle meets the Tommy Barharma. His number one rule? Don’t mix business and pleasure as that got him in hot water a long time ago. He finds out who Steph is and well he thinks that she is playing him.

In the end they decide to work together.

They are good together I loved their interaction the whole book was foreplay for the last scene of the book for both of them. He is a dream.

“You deserve someone who craves the taste of your lips. The feel of your body. Most of all, a woman like you deserves a man who understands the three-to-one ratio.”

“What’s that?” He brushed her blond strands away from her ear, cupped a hand over it, and whispered, “I would make you come three time before I even do once.”

My one complaint is that maybe it could have been one book instead of two I really hope I get the next one you hear me Netgalley? More specifically Montlake Publishing? Pretty please? With Jake Harlowe on top?

I hang my head in shame this is my first Lauren Blakely book. Why haven't I read any others? Well to date none of those interested me. But then this beauty came and well I might have to back track and read some of her other books.

I'm not happy about that cliffhanger ending.

The Sapphire Affair is the first book in the jewel series. This is a part 1 of 2 and should be read in order.
Jake is a recovery specialist, he is a modern day Robin Hood of sorts but likes to right a wrong.
Stephanie has her own water excursion company and is currently at the Cayman island's for two things 1. do a few dives and 2. figure out if her beloved stepfather is as evil as people think of him.
Together Jake and Stephanie look for the items Jake was hired to retrieve.
I've read quite a few books by Lauren Blakely and was surprised at how clean this novel was. There isn't what I've come to expect from Lauren... if you're looking for a quick read, go for it. I'm intrigued and need to know how this ends.

It was a good story but by the end I didn't really even care. It was a cute romance but a short book and cutting it off and creating 2 books was not necessary. I may read the second eventually but not if I have other things to read.

DNF @ 35%.

This didn't work for me at all. It takes forever for them to meet, and I didn't connect with the characters at all. I wasn't impressed with the writing. I should be able to connect within the first fourth of a book, actually sooner, but that didn't happen so I'm done.

:) Hopefully if you read this book you have a different review!

Jake and Steph, are they both after the same thing? Finding the missing money? They certainly have some steamy chemistry. Seriously hot, and love the "numbers". Although this ends in a Cliffy, it's a satisfying read that does uncover some of the questions in the storyline. Looks like we'll be getting more of Jake and Steph in the next book.
