Broken Pride by Erin Hunter

I really wanted to like this book. I honestly did. I love Warriors so much and have enjoyed Seekers. I have not read Survivors yet but I figured that Bravelands would be good. I was wrong.

This book was a slog to get through. I just could not get attached to the characters. I suppose I am getting too old for books like these even though I do enjoy Warriors quite a bit.

The book has amazing pace and leaves you wanting to turn every page. My favourite parts were definitely sky’s, I loved her as a character and seeing how the elephants lived in their groups was cool to get a new perspective on the savannah life.

I would recommend for anyone who likes animals or wants to learn more because although a fictional series I believe it reflects the Savannah life very accurately.

A decent book that unfortunately feels a bit mechanical and is lacking in the character-department.

A lion, a baboon, and an elephant rule the story in this animal series. African adventure that will appeal to those who like this author. Grades 3 and up.

Its OK, like all of Erin Hunters' books (the apostrophe is not a mistake) it could be better. Entertaining enough. Good enough to make you want to keep reading, unlike some books where its just like you like it if you're reading in the moment but not good enough to make you want to read more.

The reading group I led for my company’s kids voted this book for our “club”. Cute story for a younger audience.

I really enjoyed this introduction to the series, I'm already on book 2 and am happy to add this along with my extensive Warriors collection. I haven't felt like this for an Erin Hunter series starter novel since Into the Wild and hoping the rest will be just as good if not better than this. I loved the main characters; Fearless the lion cub, Sky the young elephant and Thorn the teen/young adult baboon. (Not sure what's considered adult in baboon life spans.) I'd highly recommend a read if you're a fan of Warriors or African animals.

The beginning was a little slow but picked up around halfway. Very cute. Love Erin Hunter.
