Raina is fast approaching thirty. Her well intended Nani insists that it’s time she find a husband and marries. She presents Raina with a list of eligible men. Raina hesitantly works her way through the list, all the while still pining over her ex boyfriend. When her ex boyfriend is suddenly transferred to her office branch, and back into her life, things get complicated. Raina struggles to meet her Nani’s expectations and entangles herself in a web of lies.

At times Raina was infurating. However she was relatable and it was impossible not to empathize with her. Her Nani was ever persistent, heartwarming and endearing. Seeing her learn from her past and try to express unconditional acceptance of her Granddaughter warmed my heart. I loved reading about their cozy weekends cooking Indian food and snuggling watching movies together.

My favorite thing about this book was that it got me to try cooking. Now I mean I’ve always cooked dinner for my family obviously, like spaghetti and a jar of sauce, but I mean this book got my entire house smelling like homemade chicken curry and warm chapattis.
