In a strange piece of cosmic wonder, I had this on my device from the library for a week or so, but felt compelled to turn to it yesterday, just before hearing the news of Gibson's passing that same day. Whether it's just strange coincidence or a sign from the universe, I'm so glad I got to take the time to sit with these poems. Gibson was funny and devastating in equal measure, and I highlighted many lines that I know will stick with me for a long time. How lucky we were to have their light in the world for the time we did; my only regret is that I didn't know much about them and their work before now, but it's so clear that they were truly beloved by their readers and peers, and I'm glad I have more of their work to explore.
