I thibk like most poetry books it's full of half bangers and half absolutely terrible lol like some lines are from the word of god others are elementary and I'm bored
There was the odd good poem in there, but a lot of this read like early 2010s tumblr poetry. Definitely not worth the £11/12 pounds spent on about 100 pages.
I could barely put this book down, and I started recommending it to people 20 pages in. The poetry is beautiful. This is exactly what I was looking for.
What else is there to say about Andrea Gibson that I haven’t already? I adore their work, and this most recently publication did not disappoint.
There is a reason Gibson is one of the best known modern poets. There is a reason their work is quoted, shared, retweeted, and re-read time and time again. They posses a talent that is otherworldly.
Gibson is so achingly human, so absolutely full of raw emotion. Their words make me wonder at how one person can feel so much and yet still find the strength to not only write about it, but write about it beautifully.
This book is fresh, it is current, but it is thoughtful and it is gentle in its severity. This is a book written by someone who knows how raw being a human can feel sometimes, how brutal the world can be. But it is also a book by someone who understands that the only way we make life a little softer and making living a little more doable, is by lifting each other up and finding ways to love others and yourself even in the hardest moments.
It is a book of honesty and hope. It is a love letter and a battle cry. It absolutely worth reading and re-reading. I think that everyone could learn something from Andrea. And I think if we did, the world would be a little better for it.
