What makes a perfect day? It depends on who you "talk" to in the story. Meet Bert who helps his animal friends have a perfect day. ... until a bear comes along to find his perfect day. A fun picture book.

This is such a cute book that's illustrated in a way that I've rarely seen Lane Smith do! (Whenever I think of Smith, I immediately think of The Stinky Cheese Man, so these two definitely have a very different illustrative style). Not being super familiar with Smith's other work, I think this is a great show of how talented he is, and how style can transform over time and at will. The storyline is just fantastic and simple and cute, and the illustrations are just the same.

I love a well-executed simple story like this one. It's perfect for the preschool set and the illustrations... I think they may be Lane Smith's finest! I could look at them over and over. I've been a fan since Stinky Cheese Man and these are really different in a beautiful way.

Textured painted illustrations bring life to a humorous look at what a perfect days means for several animals... until a bear shows up. The viable brush strokes add a gorgeous finish to each page.
