god i really wanted to like this book. i loved learning about armenian culture. tho, it did get to be a little too much at times. but lord nareh was quite insufferable to read about. i almost dnf-ed about 75% the way thru. i really didn’t want to reward her for incredibly annoying choices. but i powered thru. i think the author can do some great things. find a good balance when talking about their culture and i just hope the next main character makes better choices.

I really, really enjoyed this. the characters felt real, the conflict was resolved in a realistic way, this book was just such a joy to read. the discussions on armenian history and misogyny were provoking and handled in a really good way. this was fully immersive for me, and i'm so excited to see more from this author in the future!! the chemistry between the mc and the romantic lead was OFF THE FUCKING CHARTS. it just hit so well!!!

A sweet romance novel centered around learning to embrace ethnic and sexual identities in your late 20s for anyone who’s ever felt like they’re hitting life’s milestones behind everybody else. I really enjoyed the thorough introduction to Armenian culture through the eyes of Nareh, who begins to joyfully and deeply connect with her family’s history for the first time in her adult life. Though this novel doesn’t shy away from some darker themes such as death of a parent and workplace sexism, it manages to gracefully maintain the romance genre’s backbone that ‘all will be well in the end.’

rep: armenian fmc, story focusing on armenian identity & most major characters are armenian, bi fmc, bi li, wlw main relationship

This book really suffered being from Nar's point of view because her head was an unpleasant place to be in. She was not a character that felt relatable or loveable. And that made it especially hard because Erebuni was so *cool* and I just could not understand their chemistry. Why would she like Nar? What connection did they have?

The scene with the coffee was honestly really good, but it was like 40-50% through the book so it was the sole reason for me not DNF-ing. It was a really sensual and enticing scene that if it had been in another book would have felt at home. But after the scene everything went back to the way it was before.

I also don't normally say this but the side characters were not necessary. There were so many suitors and side friends and I just got so confused.

I also...don't think some of the more serious topics were handled very tactfully.  I think it had some really important things it wanted to say that could have been really enhanced through a couple more edits.

A bit disappointed in this one tbh. Like the bisexual MCs but...yeah.

The cover is stunning tho. 10/10
