I really enjoyed The Brain Vault by this author and have other books of his now waiting on my Kindle, and I devoured this book non-stop in 5 hours. I loved it, and I have questions! Axel and Lexa are brother and sister, down on their luck, no family, clinging together in life. They are so different they are mirror images of the other - Axel is grounded, wary, secure, slightly OCD, whereas Lexa is more chaotic, flighty, impulsive and this gets her in trouble big time as the book unfolds, several times, until you just want to tell her to stop!
These siblings are not just normal people though, they are shapeshifters, able to shift into other people, even each other, but there are consequences for those actions, and is all the shifting leaving more permanent damage to their bodies, as well as their souls?
The last couple of pages of the book drove me mad! What? That's it? When is book 2 out? Are they two people, or is it just one complicated person?? The writing is so good, it could easily be either. I recommend reading this book before book 2 comes out, you are in for a serious treat. My official rating for this book is 5, but in my opinion it's more of a 5.9 on the book Richter scale.
