It was an easy read with a decent end. Not terrible, but not really great.

I did not enjoy this book, it was not my cup of tea. I am a big fan of the author so, I didn’t know anything about this book when I began reading it. My mistake. Horror is not a genre that I enjoy. I was more than halfway through the book when I discovered my mistake. I kept reading. Ugh. I hope I do not make that mistake again.

Hot dog this is a good book. I forgot who I was for a moment.

I picked up this book thinking it was a thriller based on the inside jacket. I even believed it was a thriller until about 2/3 of the way thru. Turns out it's a horror book which I would have been fine with if I knew that from the start. Honestly though that wasn't my only complaint with this book. The dialogue between the characters was terrible and hard to follow. Instead of saying what is on their mind, they are anticipating what the other person thinks they are going to say. This works well in film but falls flat in a novel. The whole book is set up with the anticipation of 'Who dunnit' but when the big twist comes I was left feeling like seriously?? It could have been a pretty cool story if it was set up better. I think the prologue should have hinted to the true nature of the story . Also, the main character is constantly questioning whether she is hallucinating but has no past trauma related to her altering her perception of reality. At times I felt like this was part two of a story and I needed to read the first book to understand the story better.

This was an interesting read and the mystery and reveals were very intriguing. I listened on audiobook and the voice actor kept me engaged. Would recommend!
