There are more things that I truly despised to its core in this book than I liked. The sexist and misogynist descriptions of characters, the poorly written dialogues and lack of acknowledgement for the rape done by the main character. This book is extremly gross in terms of how women are treated and presneted.

I truly loved this book. Captivating, an easy and quick read, with deeper meaning.

Very conflicted on how many stars I should give this book. I think it tells an important story and everyone might also read something else into it or take other lessons from it which makes it a strong book, but the main character was enraging to me and it did make me want to put the book away a lot. But I guess that’s exactly what a good story does, it gives you a lot of feelings and makes you think.

One of the most well written, poignant books I've ever read, do not read it.

Is this objectively 1 star? no, it's kind of an unfair rating. but I can't bring myself to raise it, because, 1. I hated every single second of this book with every fiber of my being and 2. even though it might not be 1 star bad, this book still has a loooot of issues.

It's starts with the blurb on the back; it describes as a 'relationship' what is actually sexual assault (with very weird pedophilic tendencies).

Another big issue for me is the caracterisation of every women in this book. They are all victims or pityful in some way. While also acting like most women wouldn't. The main characters daughter is the worst. (Major spoiler alert) she gets violently raped, and has to expect that it will happen again if she stays on the farm that she currently owns. But EVEN THOUGH that farm doesn't yield much, even tough she has no emotional ties to that place whatsoever, even though her father offers her to stay with him, meaning she'd have another place to go, even though absolutely nothing holds her there, she's stays in the place where not only she already has been raped but will be raped again. NO WOMAN ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH WOULD ACT THIS WAY!

My main issue with this though? Everything is bad. Everyone is ugly and evil and bitter and the world is a horrible place and only bad things happen to people and, actually, they are all bad people themselves. I HATE stories like that. it's a lazy try to make readers care and it's also unrealistic.
