I enjoyed the writing style and the book itself and plan on reading the sequel, but the author struggled with telling instead of showing for almost anything that wasn't Villanelle's character/personality, most notably things centering Eve. Her character and personality was only proven much later in the book; her growing distance from Niko and mirrored growing obsession with Villanelle felt very abrupt, without basis, and I reread previous pages trying to see if there was something I missed that would explain it. This disjointedness was distracting enough to bring the overall rating of the book down.
Also, as someone coming to the book from the show, I wish we had more Konstantin.

The basis for the fantastic new TV show Killing Eve. All it has done is reinforce my infatuation with Phoebe Waller-Bridge as an incredibly talented writer (although I find it impossible to disentangle my crush on her Fleabag character from this infatuation) as Luke Jennings really is not much of a fiction writer at all it seems. His prose is clunky and over written, something I find even more disconcerting considering this book is a collection of short stories originally published online - why the need for such word count padding? But i guess this is what we should come to expect from self published ebooks that become popular, there’s a long track record proving that a good editor at a real publishing house is worth their weight in gold and don’t @ me to talk about fluffy nonsense like Andy Weir’s Mars book either. People who routinely read popular garbage from James Patterson will probably love this but i expect anyone with a knowledge of storytelling, sentence structure and an IQ higher than populist morons like Donald Trump to be unimpressed.
obviously not as good as the show, but imagining sandra oh and jodie comer made it well worth the read.

Spys aren’t usually my thing but my book club did a “secret Santa” exchange and this is what my Santa picked me!!
If you’re interested in world politics/travel, you will LOVE this. Even if you’ve seen the show, I highly recommend giving the book a chance! The chemistry between the two female mc’s was BETTER on paper. And hearing the actresses’ voices in your head doesn’t hurt.

Graphic: Murder
It was OK but I don't think I'll bother with the rest.
I loved the television series Killing Eve. Adored it, so when I found there was a book it was based on I had to read it. This book was a thrill, excellently written, easy to read and full of great description. Excellent story, excellently written. Easily 5 stars.
