It’s a classic “I needed a spicy read due to a reading slump” … even though I promised myself I would only read from my physical +100 TBR shelf… opps.

“Hannah’s got a bad feeling about this. Not only has the NASA aerospace engineer found herself injured and stranded at a remote Arctic research station—but the one person willing to undertake the hazardous rescue mission is her longtime rival.

Ian has been many things to Hannah: the villain who tried to veto her expedition and ruin her career, the man who stars in her most deliciously lurid dreams…but he’s never played the hero. So why is he risking everything to be here? And why does his presence seem just as dangerous to her heart as the coming snowstorm?”

What I liked:
  • Short and sweet novella, as I read this in one night short (
Though I did clearly miss the part where he compares her boobs to the surface of Mars that everybody and their mom mentions in other reviews 😂
    )
  • Little spice in the beginning and some spice at the end
  • You had me at stranded. I love a good Hurt/comfort read!
He carried her across the Arctic when she hurt her ankle 🥹

What I didn’t:
  • Miscommunication trope… I didn’t enjoy you anymore. It’s getting a little predictable
  • Sigh… another bi woman = must sleep with everyone 😒
  • It’s on me I skipped to the 3rd book, though there are references that would be better understood when read in order
especially the appearance of the other female leads with their respective beau all together which fell right out of Fanfiction.net

Rumour is these novellas were also former Reylo fanfics which makes some sense with the petite woman/big man others had called out.

Girl, what?????

Enough with the very tired damsel-in-distress trope. Enough with the “longtime rivals” trope, especially considering that is far from the truth in this novella. Enough with the “massive man, tiny baby girl” trope. I found myself skimming the pages, hoping for any semblance of a unique plot.

Ian was cute. Likable, even. But the lack of chemistry between him and Hannah from the beginning was… ugh (again, it’s a novella so, yes it’s hard to establish but maybe don’t have them awkwardly make out upon first meeting??)

I give up. Idk what else to say. Very mediocre.

I didn’t feel much of a connection between Hannah and Ian and the story wasn’t overly interesting. I did like them as individual characters though and think they may have been better in their own book than novella.
