Hannah believes that Ian Floyd is her enemy—the man who denied her research funding and called her qualifications into question. But when she finds herself injured and stranded in a remote Arctic crevasse, she just might figure out there’s more to her relationship with Ian than she realized…
This was my favorite of the STEMinist Novellas trilogy, which is saying something since I thoroughly enjoyed them all! Hannah’s insecurities were so relatable (a little *too* relatable at times) and Ian was the perfect leading man in a series filled with perfect leading men. The ending was a touch too fast for me (I would have loved a fuller epilogue celebrating all three couples but I’m a sucker for closure—maybe Ali Hazelwood will write a fourth novella where everyone goes on a best friend vacation or something? Pretty please?) but the structure of this was otherwise perfect, with just the right amount of action and tension coupled with a ton of charm, humor, and romance.
Even though I don’t listen to audiobooks all that often, I think all of these stories are great in audio form and highly recommend listening (even if you plan to go back and reread when the ebooks come out, which I definitely do!) I also really liked all of the narrators, though in addition to being my favorite of the novellas, Below Zero also has my favorite narration of the trilogy, by Savannah Peachwood, whose presentation of Hannah was, in my opinion, pitch perfect.
Finally, my love for this particular novella aside, I do recommend listening to these in order so you can fully enjoy the crossover cameos along the way!
Recommended for anyone, but especially if you like: strangers-to-almost-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers; action-mixed-with-romance; frequent mentions of polar bears.
CW: Injury/injury detail.

Whew... Hazelwood really puts the steam in these STEM-inista novellas. This one features a badass/cinnamon roll pairing between brainy space engineers. Hana is a smart, tough, guarded, late-presenting NASA nerd and Ian was a child genius who is now a gentle ginger giant (and NASA nerd).

It would have been a four if Ali could ever have her characters find a condom. I'm still confused at how they just totally left her research project in Svalbard.
