My first 5 star read of the year 2024! I love seeing my country represented in books. Especially Svalbard, which is a place of many special nature phenomenons and beautiful animals. I love learning and reading about science the way Hazelwood portrays it. This book was lighthearted and funny - especially as we saw Hannah grow as a character. I loved seeing Norwegian names of specific items, and Hannah and Ian actually get a correct understanding of a few Norwegian words. Yeah, I get a little starstruck when tiny little Norway and our language is prounounced in a book. The banter, friendship, character development, relationship development … especially the short scene with all the guys - gosh, my heart melted into a little puddle. Ali Hazelwood did it again. Fabulous writing as always.

This one was cute!! I definitely want to re-read it physically because while I did enjoy the audiobook, there were times my ADHD took over and I zoned out... but all in all, very cute and very easy, quick read!

Fun winter romance! Hannah and Ian have grea  chemistry and live for science which should make them perfect for each other. Hannah doesn't believe in relationships and Ian doesn't believe in casual connections.

Girl, what?????

Enough with the very tired damsel-in-distress trope. Enough with the “longtime rivals” trope, especially considering that is far from the truth in this novella. Enough with the “massive man, tiny baby girl” trope. I found myself skimming the pages, hoping for any semblance of a unique plot.

Ian was cute. Likable, even. But the lack of chemistry between him and Hannah from the beginning was… ugh (again, it’s a novella so, yes it’s hard to establish but maybe don’t have them awkwardly make out upon first meeting??)

I give up. Idk what else to say. Very mediocre.

I learned a few things about Mars while Hannah and Ian got to know each other better.
