And the series comes to a super sweet close.
Yamato and Takeo accept that she's moving away, and they accept having a long distance relationship. Everyone is surprised by her move, but they all believe they'll make it. Sunakawa tries to help by keeping Takeo distracted, and cheering him up.
But Takeo has Sunakawa. Yamato has her family, but she's struggling more. School is hard, she's not doing great, she misses Takeo, she can't understand anyone around her. It doesn't take much from Takeo to get her to admit this, though, which I liked. She's honest with him about it. Takeo freaks out in an awful way, though, and no one can understand him for it.
One of the best moments of this manga for sure, though, is when Sunakawa knocks some sense into Takeo. Literally. He needs it, and he understands why.
This all leads to a very sweet conclusion, which is no surprise.
I loved everything about this series. I hope we get more from these authors.

This might be my favourite manga ever, the best one I've ever read, at least up till this point♡ Kawahara sensei and Aruko are an unbeatable couple.

ahhh, sad to see this go! i think this could definitely have gone on for a few more volumes but maybe the magazine called for an end. anyways, i loved every minute of watching takeo, yamato, and sunakawa leading their lives and growing and being excellent people. recommended to the highest level!!!

Such a good ending to this series! I was so worried about a cliched epilogue, but in a series all about being your genuine self, I should have known it would know better. A wish for his best friend to find someone like he did in Yamato is far more true to this series and to Takeo's love story.
There is so much to love about this series. The emphasis on communication, the integrity of its characters and their relationships, the realism of conflicts while maintaining the fun. I have never gotten to read a love story manga that spent about as much time on the romance as it did on character development and relationship development between other characters. They spent a lot of time writing one of the best male friendships I have ever read! Because his friendships, family, and personal struggles... all still exist when he is in love, and you have to praise an author who makes a point of that! When they had cliches, they were made far more natural like things that could actually happen (e.g., "potential" love triangles that are actual realistic and not forced). The plots and story were always well-structured. There was hardly a scene that made me think that it was unnecessary unlike some other manga. It was also funny because it was real even when it was outrageous!
Some of the last conflicts didn't fit as well with the story, but I don't think they took away from the story much. It's hard to pick out anything truly wrong with this series. It is honestly one of the best shoujo manga and manga in general I have read.
Final Volume: 5☆
Series: 5☆
