You know how certain sentences make you angry because they’re so beautiful and you know you’ll never write anything that good? That’s most of this book.

Love the writing style and the short chapters made it easy to read very quickly; overall I didn't really connect with it and I can't shame the book for that because inherently it wasn't written for me or intended to be relatable to me! Love the prose the whole book is very beautifully written

A simple book that covers tough concepts like rape/assault, abuse, identity, friendship and trust, and family. I enjoyed the messaging about aspects that make up a house vs a home. I felt that I would’ve especially enjoyed reading these vignettes into people’s lives that often reflected my own when I was younger.

This is a book I have wanted to read for a long time, based off of all the hype I've heard about it; however, it didn't meet those expectations. It was a good book, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't accomplish what I expected. This is an extremely short book written in a series of vignettes. I loved the originality of this, but some of the vignettes majorly trumped (sorry for lack of a better word) over the other vignettes. There were a decent amount of vignettes that left me empty. Yes, there were some that were very powerful and awe inspiring, but some just left me feeling blank. This is a strong, powerful feminist novel, and I really did enjoy that. Also, just as a side-note, the introduction to this novel is absolutely amazing, fabulous, and all of the other positive adjectives out there. I actually enjoyed the introduction more than some of the vignettes. Just because this novel is so short, I would have to recommend it, but don't go in thinking it's going to be this above-five-star book.
