I like the vignette style of writing, it's very interesting and leaves many things off the page. A quick, but important and mentally tough read. Everyone has a story in this book.

The only thing I love more than a book with “house” in the title is when it’s written from a spunky little kid’s POV.

This was magical and poetic and comforting and I can’t wait to share it with my mom. :)

I love Cisneros way of writing- I felt transported back to her childhood home on Mango Street; an insider privy to the muddled neighborhood details, or a fly on the wall in the house.

I’ve been listening to this during runs and drives this week. It can be haunting listening to the effects of poverty and violence on kids, especially when told from the perspective of a child. Beautifully written.

There were moments of pure brilliance and moments when I wanted to run away from this book and not read another word.

That's a lot for such a short book.

Maybe I need to read it again some time. I don't know, my feelings are very complicated and usually I know how I feel about a book.

Anyway, I think you should read this book and make up your own mind. And I think I should read it again too.
