Dolly Alderton is just the master of writing about emotions. Although it took me quite a bit to get into the book (cause Andy is troubled and frustrating in the beginning) I ended up loving it and I cared a lot about the characters. The ending was just Chefs kiss.

Had very high expectations, but I’m kind of disappointed… It started out strong, but had a lull in the middle that almost made me not want to finish the book. I’m glad I did though, ‘cause I thought the end chapters in Jen’s POV were very well done and interesting. I really saw myself in her struggle with ending a relationship with someone she still loved but wasn’t right for her and her questions regarding her future and ambitions for her life.

I am however in awe of how Alderton wrote and described the feeling of heartbreak. It was so recognizable and painful. For that I give it 3,25 stars.

This book resonates with me and the moment that I am in. I kept wishing that Andy would find a way through to somehow find happiness or that Jen would come back or some revelation would happen. But I guess that’s not reality we just keep hurting until it gets easier and this makes me sad and a little hopeless
