This book was an hard one. Just like the first two. I love Joey Lynch so much and to read what he gone through it heartbreaking. Chloe Walsh has woven tragedy in to beautiful love stories with these book. I hope Joey gets his happily ever after.

 4.25/5 stars!

I picked up this book on a random day and did I expect all of this? No, I was destroyed and I even read Redeeming 6 immediately after. Utterly ruined myself for no reason, but Joey Lynch and Aoife Molloy were worth losing my mind over.

“No one needed to love me if it meant that it hurt them this deeply.”

“Don’t hate me, Molloy,” Joey mumbled, falling into the passenger seat the moment I let him go to open the car door. “You’re all I have to wake up for in the morning.”

“I couldn’t pull the trigger. It was like I’d inhaled her so deeply inside of me that my head and heart refused to function. I couldn’t release the air in my burning lungs without the absolute guarantee that I would get to see her face again.”

To be completely honest, I've only read the synopsis and probably didn't pay attention to the warnings. I had simply jumped into the book blindly and wasn't anticipating how deep things could get. Another thing, this book didn't have to be THIS long, but whatever because I read it in just a few sittings. The writing style was mostly easy to read and I flew through every page.

I love both Joey Lynch and Aoife Molloy, even more in their second book. It's an understatement. All of those things that Joey went through were so wrong. Extremely wrong. It made me think of any child that is living in similar misfortune. I felt sick every time his poor excuse of parents appeared in the book. I wouldn't hold it against Joey for falling the way he did. He deserved the world and his siblings did too.

Joey Lynch. The boy you were. The man you became.
Aoife Molloy. An inspiration. Bold and strong-willed.

I looked up to both of them equally. The rawness of their love. They never back down nor stop loving each other. Joey indeed ruined himself and got into trouble countless times. Despite all of that, Aoife never left him behind to drown. They basically clung to each other in their own world. Joey's sheer will to stand up for his siblings? He had the softest heart under that bad boy exterior. Most importantly, their banter? Gold.

I have no proper words to articulate everything I felt throughout this book, but I would admit that I enjoyed it and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I would always think of them. Time to dive into the rest of the series.

Nice everything.

4.5/5

This was my favorite of the series so far. This book took us back in time and showed the MMC, Joey, from seventh grade up until senior year of high school and how his relationship developed with the FMC, Aoife.

I enjoyed how this book was broken up into different school grades and how it truly showed the progression of the main characters relationship with each other. This book ends right where the first book of the series starts.

This book is also a duology in the series so the next book will continue with the same main characters and further progress their relationship.

I loved that Joey and Aoife get their own set of books after seeing glimpses of them in the first two books of the series. This first book in their story provided some much needed context especially since this book was a flashback to the past and the next book will be catching up with events from the second book. Kinda confusing but makes sense if you read the series in order (which you must do)

Overall, I like Joey and Aoife much more than Shannon and Johnny. This book felt a lot less redundant, and the pain and trauma felt more authentic and less gimmicky. After the last book, I wasn’t sure if this series was gonna get worse or better but it did get better in my opinion.
