Poor Joey Lynch, the way his mother disregards everything he does for her is heartbreaking. Like the guy wasn't even a legal adult and had to shoulder the weight of caring for children who aren't his, just for her to turn around and slap him in the face with "you're just like him" piss off. Truly sobering, the mother.

Aoife my girl, the patience you have on you. If I was Casey I would not let any of that slide and would tell you to run for the hills but also it just shows how committed and loyal she is to him for always being in his corner. Round of applause honestly.

This one didn’t hit as hard for me as the first two. While I understand Joey’s trauma, I didn’t find him a great boyfriend—there was a lot of spiraling and back-and-forth. In my view, he needed to work on himself more before leaning so heavily on Aoife for stability.

The romance felt less organic and more dependent, and because I already knew a lot of the backstory and family drama from earlier books, there weren’t many emotional surprises left. It was still decent, but didn’t grab me in the same way as the first two.
