This book is full of twists and turns, constantly keeping you guessing. There are a handful of moments where I can't stand Spensa but she shows so much growth throughout the book that I found myself rooting for her through all her flaws. MBot is definitely one of my all time favorite characters.

I'm not big on science fiction but thought this had a great balance of humour and thrills. Sanderson also did a fantastic job with character development. A real page-turner for the right audience.

This was a very fun, but also surprisingly serious book. The books explores themes of social status and the impacts of unfair expectations. Main character has incredible growth in this book and I look forward to continuing her story.

Sanderson once again comes up with unique ideas and creates a story of worlds, histories, technologies, and people that are distinct from his other stories and are engaging and intriguing. I'm sad that I read this so early because I want to jump into the series, to read the next evolution of this story and yet I'm left waiting for months before the next book is released. That's what you want from the first book in a series, you want to be left wanting more. I'm satisfied with the first book, I'm not annoyed or unsatisfied because he left huge questions unanswered like the end of a season of Lost, I'm pleased with the book's resolutions but I'm excited to see what roles the various characters will fill and how the broader story will develop as the characters realize how they can reach beyond their current views of themselves, their society, and their world and expand their ideas and even themselves out into the universe.

Very enjoyable YA book from Brandon Sanderson, complete with a signature twist at the end. Good characters and well paced plot. I'm looking forward to finishing the second in the series.

3 days... I'm typically a slower-ish reader but I CONSUMED Skyward in 3 days. I am left feeling so many things. I am in Awe of how Brandon Sanderson can make me feel so many feelings and grip my attention so strongly.
