Hated the main character and her actions. The book itself was not very interesting, not written very well and in my opinion also just too unbelievable.
Ggreat suspense
I love how Blake pierce keeps the suspense going. There was one typo where Ashley was used instead of Keri but aside from that I think everything read great!

Keri Locke…rouge cop, traumatized by the abduction of her daughter (still missing), abuser of criminals. Sounds like someone who should be fired, put on leave …oh wait, she is but goes and does her own thing anyway. Great cop.
I think the storyline itself would have been good if not for the accent of the narrator and just how absurd Keri’s actions are in the process of trying to catch a killer. I get that grief and trauma make you do strange things but this was a bit much.

eh, this book did have potential, but really it felt predictable, like someone watched a marathons of crime dramas and took notes so that they could follow a script and then just checked all the items off the list of the book was written. The characters were flat, predictable, and pretty much unlikable.
I did this one as an audio and that narrator really made this book a struggle. A story set in in LA, with a British reader. Some of the pronunciations really took you out of the setting and made staying in the story even harder.

I wish this book had more clues/ twists that left you guessing. It was a lot of dead ends until close to the end. Nevertheless, I liked the story overall and enjoyed reading from the POV of the victim.
Just okay. Seems like she needs to be trained more or deal with her issues, she literally assaults and abuses people while on duty and gets away with it.
If you like a thrilling mystery with smart twists, great detective work, and a hero you can root for, I would NOT RECOMMEND this book.
(SPOILERS)
Besides the constant ogling at skin tones, the author laid it on thick that the protagonist, Keri Locke, is working through trauma and personal troubles that are supposed to make you feel sorry for her. However, none of it excuses the fact that she's a bad cop who power trips and uses assault as an interrogation tactic even against minors. As if that wasn't bad enough, she went on several trips around town, questioning valuable leads and either promising to ignore their other crimes (like statutory rape, possession of child pornography, and drug use) or keeping their conversations a secret, rendering their confessions useless. Add drinking on the job, driving while intoxicated, trespassing on private property, and contaminating evidence to the list of why the hero is a terrible character (actually, it seems like all the police characters in this book are terrible).
Getting into the mystery and crime-solving part was difficult because whatever potential it had was overshadowed by the incompetence of the Locke. She should have been taken off the case completely, fired, prosecuted, and sent to jail regardless of her tragic backstory as all bad cops should.
