Fun series. My enthusiasm is petering out a bit with these last few, but I'll still read the new ones.

Jo and David's upcoming nuptials are put to the test when an earthquake ruins the first bridal shop that Jo attends. An earthquake caused by something unknown to the wardens and unseen by the Djinn, a fact that the Djinn can't believe so they think the Wardens are suffering a mass hallucination. Turns out there's a new bad in town, a group called The Sentinels, they don't like the Djinn and they really don't like Jo since she's going to marry one. Jo fights for her life as the Wardens fight to save the world without the reporters spilling everything to the inhabitants of it.

So I waited ages for this to come out over here and it turns out the covers were changed anyway, seems they've been changed to look a bit more like the Morganville books. And even though I waited ages for it and bought it as soon as it was available, other books got in the way and I actually forgot I had it on my shelf. Until I read Devil's Bargain and was reminded of my love for Rachel Caine's writing.

And I am SO glad I picked it up! Completely forgot how much I loved David and his and Jo's relationship, and I do like when we get confirmation of their feelings for one another. Although I had several scares on whether it was going to last, as with other books there are complications with the whole human-Djinn thing so there are always the gasp-out-loud moments that fill me with honest-to-goodness fear!

Can't believe I forgot about this series, have been on Amazon already to make sure I have the last two books in the series.

I'm constantly impressed by Rachel Caine's ability to keep this series going with unpredictable twists and turns. It never gets old and always seems completely believeable, which speaks for her amazing gift in character development. I can't wait for the next book!

I love this series so much, I love Joanne and David and the tough ride they get.

One thing that I think Rachel Caine does very well is the blistering pace that she sets with each novel.

I for one love getting carried away with the urgency of it all.

This novel heralds the return of someone we haven't seen for a long time and its the start of another narrative cycle for Jo and David.

I keep saying intense when I talk about these books but that's what we get. We get so much action and strategy trying to run the bad guys it's kinda great.

Then usually we get a big fight or two until the next book where it picks up for the next fight.
This one had a lot of fights, and some shocking twists.
Sentinels are fighting Joanne and David getting married. Djinn are divided, it's a mess.

I am diving right into book 8!

This amped up the Weather Warden series. Jo and David are getting married and a whole new set of issues arise. A hate group set on ending Djinn are now determined to put an end to Jo and David. More so, a reporter of a well-known newspaper is tailing Jo and close to discovering the Weather Wardens.
In a way, this was like getting a breather. So much has happened and it's been quite an adrenaline rush. This was as close to normal as Jo has had in a little while. Yet, it's a whole problem that's targeting her in a whole new way.

If there's something I love as much as a plot twist, it's the unexpected return of characters, especially villains. It's so dastardly and always shocks me. Caine really knows how twist and shock and I love it so much. She shakes it up. She spills the tea. I am always here for it with her books.

One thing became abundantly clear though, David may only want some of these things such as marriage because Jo does. He's shown so much struggle to adapt and be a part of humanity. Because she asks of things from him much like one asks of things from a Djinn, it's unclear if he really wants them. With demon possession, becoming a Djinn, and an apocalypse, there wasn't time to take this factor between he two in, but now it's become ever-present. I foresee it becoming a problem if David doesn't speak for himself/discover his wants and just keeps riding on Jo's coattails.

I will say, by the end, I was missing the action of the apocalypse. I'm a sucker for it.

Rachel Caine sure knows how to drive a reader mental. That ending was crazy - I just hope Jo and David can finally get some peace in the next book, although chances are they won't.

Poor old Joanne Baldwin

So far in this series she's been marked (literally) for Death, died and been re-born again as a Djinn, lost her Djinn-hood, survived the war Warden/Djinn war and the subsequent Djinn Civil War, and suffered from a severe case of amnesia.

While it felt like most of those various plot strands had been tied-up in the last Weather Warden novel (Thin Air), this proves NOT to be the case, as the backlash from those events continue on in this. In addition, Joanne has to deal with sorting out the details to her wedding to the Djinn leader David (a wedding that some in the Wardens and other Djinn are none to pleased about), as well coping with inquisitive reporters who are now investigating the Wardens.

To my mind, this novel comes across as the 'entry point' to a whole new Weather Warden story, with Thin Air] wrapping up the 'old' story. You would probably still need to read those books first, though!

I think I was thrown for a loop at the beginning of this book because I thought there would be a continuation of the story from the previous book. I think I was pretty irritated with this book as it went on. Not sure if I will continue reading this series if given the opportunity.

This may have been the best one of the series yet. Lots happen and Jo is again in the middle of it all. We find out who are for and against the Djinn. And in the end who has come back from the dead. Also did David and Jo get married or not? You have to read this to find out.
