I've seen this in movie/play form many times, and I have to say I much prefer it in that form. I didn't really enjoy reading this very much. It's just a good thing it was so short. The message of the story is great, and I think that's why it's so timeless and has been redone so many times. I just didn't care for all the extra details (yes, it felt like extra even in this very short book), and couldn't quite figure out the point of them.

Only 247 days until Christmas, the best time to read a good ol' Christmas carol.

I had been wanting to read this for Christmas for quite a few years and on Christmas Eve 2011 I remembered that I had it on my shelf. I pulled it out and read 3 (long) chapters that night and 2 the next day.
I had watched the animated movie the year before and thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe I understood a lot of the book because of the child's movie I had previously watched and was able to enjoy it more. The old english wasn't as ancient as I thought it would be but it wasn't as Christmas spirited as I thought it would be either. I would recommend it only because it is a well known book that is generally read around Christmas time.

One of my yearly reads! It never becomes boring. It is always as magical as the first time I read it.

Christmas wasn't quite the same this year (thanks to covid!) But despite reading this a few days late it still had the power to being warmth and festive cheer with it.

Every time I learn something from this book. I'll never forget it.

Such a beautiful Christmas classic which I’ll definitely be rereading in the years to come.
A great story to start reading Charles Dickens.

Who better to narrate this book than Tim Curry?

Anything by Dickens is considered a classic, right? I had this whispered into my ear for 3 hours by Hugh Jackman and it made it all even better. It never fails, every December 1st, I reread A Christmas Carol. And every year, it only reminds me how much I miss out by not reading more classics throughout the year.

If you want to get in the Christmas cheer or the classics, I recommend starting here. The story in itself is easy enough and it's a beautiful story.
