Loved the premise, but the story itself dragged and I didn’t feel like slogging through the rest of the novel. Could’ve done with tighter editing imo.

I'm updating this rating to match the notes on my reading journal. I was very excited about the premise for this book and I thought it had a strong start. In the middle the action slowed down too much and began to drag the story, though I continued to enjoy the rich setting details. Fortunately, the story did pull together into an exciting ending that was the perfect balance of resolution and continuity into the other half of this duology, imo. I'm excited for the sequel coming out this year and will definitely be reading it.

Romajuliette served forbidden love/friends to betrayal/enemies. Knife to throat not once but twice‼️ Juliette as an FMC was refreshing. She was so badass and yet so loyal to her family. Every-time she pinned Roma to a surface it was the hottest thing. Roma being a babygirl in-front of Juliette but a true heir in-front of the others
