I'm now questioning myself as to why I hadn't already picked up this book!
One of my best reads of 2022!! I will definitely be buying the next one and then re-reading them!
I've only just finished and I'm at a loss for words. It was so incredibly good that I have no idea what to say!

The story was gripping! The prose was beautiful! The characters were captivating! The book was a roller coaster of emotions!
This is one of the types of books where if I wanted to I could really nit-pick every small thing that could've been better, but I don't even want to think about these things because this book was a joy to read.

what i liked:
i absolutely loved that ending and i’m so reading to start the next book. i normally don’t like third person bc i feel disconnected from the characters, however i didn’t feel that way in this book. i loved how we follow many different characters and get to see a little bit inside each other their brains. i also absolutely loved the aesthetic of this book like i feel like i imagined it so well in my head which made it t that more enjoyable.
what i didn’t like:
genuinely wasn’t really much of anything i didn’t like, everything were minor things that didn’t really take away from the overall enjoyment. OTHER THAN FREAKING TYLER FREAKING BANE OF MY EXISTENCE.
do i recommend this?
100% even to someone who isn’t into fantasy as i am also someone who barely reads it, it’s not too crazy of world building!

Benedikt and Marshall have the cutest relationship ever. I need their love story in the sequel.
I am also so in love with Roma. He is the ideal man and has definitely made it on my list of book boyfriends.

The story started off with promise but really dragged for me as I got into it. Interesting concept but there were too many side stories and not enough context given to really care about any of the characters. I just had a hard time engaging with anyone in the story- the characters were not well fleshed out and felt one dimensional and boring. As a retelling of Romeo and Juliet it doesn’t even measure up to that so the tie in seems confusing to be honest. I could barely make myself finish this one.

the romance…UNMATCHED. the plot…HELLA INTERESTING. the aesthetic…AMAZING.
i love juliette’s personality and also love the fact that she a little more brutal than roma cause usually it’s the other way around. i have formed an attachment to juliette and roma and if anything happens to either of them i will sob my eyes out. i even love benedikt and marshall sm. the ending is such a great cliffhanger and i’m gonna start reading the second book RIGHT NOW
