Not a fan of Cindy Kay as a narrator. She always sounds like she is whispering, especially when she is doing a man’s voice. Also the plot didn’t catch my attention.

Holy hell? Umm I need book two now. LIKE NOW.
I think I need a minute to process this....

3.5/5 stars. These Violent Delight was an enjoyable read that managed to bring light to important issues and keep me invested for the entire story.

Chloe Gong’s writing style is exceptional. I could really tell how much Chloe put into this book and it’s amazing that she’s a college student.

My only problem with this book is that I wasn’t entirely convinced of Juliette and Roma’s love for each other (I didn’t feel the chemistry), but Benedikt and Marshall made up for it.

Overall, this was a great read that I would recommend to anyone who loves fantasy, gangs, and Romeo and Juliet. Very excited for book two :)

i had this downloaded on my kindle for travelling and was not expecting to enjoy this book so much!! the main two characters were great but the dynamics between the more minor characters were what stood out to me because i was pretty much invested in everyone. also loved the historical setting with the sprinkle of fantasy too. i've definitely given better books lower ratings but this was just very enjoyable to me :)

Romeo and Juliet with rival gang families in 1930s Shanghai with monsters loose in the city. Love it. Particularly liked the second-chance love story, as that fixes the insta-love problems with the original R+J.
