This was an extremely harsh portrait of social class, poverty, cartels, and everyday violence in Mexican society. The portrayal of women was hard to get through, the author pulls no punches in her descriptions of sexist mindsets and violent sex. Despite that, this was an intense little book that's worth the read.

This book is well written and a quick read but truly dark and sick and hard to read and made me feel really bad and gross after reading. I personally would not recommend but also think some may really enjoy it.

Well, I don't know. Her books are something else.
Great build-up, even greater execution. Horrific. Fernanda Melchior can certainly fucking write.
