I was thrilled to be in ARC reader for this book! I absolutely loved it. Wonderful characters, a really good pace, and a creative and delightful retelling of Beauty and the Beast! I was only two chapters in when I was looking online for other books by this author. I can’t wait to read more books by Kate King!

I enjoyed it the pacing was fun, spice was nice and the characters were interesting enough. Loved that she wasn’t the strong bitch in the room and that she was a grown adult and had her own problems outside of this man. Also she had realistic (though quickly forgotten) reactions to violence.

Felt like there were ideas that were new (and I’ve been on a reading binge for the past month) that I enjoyed that I would to be explored in more books. (I’m not gonna go into that cause I can’t think of specifics and I mostly write reviews for myself to remember what I read)

Instagram ad got me again! Love the concept of the plot but for a fantasy novel there’s very little attention to world building. Thankfully our main cast of characters are unique enough and we’re even graced with an age appropriate (29 yo) FMC! Sad to say I did guess the resolution to our gangs problem 50% of the way though… probably would have bumped it to 3 stars.
