This was a cute little kindle unlimited read and actually a really well written fantasy stand alone. I didn’t read what this was about, just saw a blurb and thought why not. I hate fantasy stand alones because I feel like they never wrap up well and it’s so fast. This one did!! Points off because I hate modern things with fantasy (like TikTok being mentioning) but I could ignore!!

This felt like reading ACOTAR-lite in the general plot, but ACOTAR was also based on Beauty and the Beast as well so that shouldn’t be shocking.

There was a lot of swearing but that didn’t bother me at all. It honestly felt a little more relatable. The writing felt smooth and approachable. There was a lot of POV switching between Alix and Daemon but it felt really natural.

Alix and Daemon had a lot of chemistry. Even though the book starts on a one night stand, it still felt like a slow burn romance with lots of yearning. Also I just love that Daemon saves Alix’s life several times.

I’m super excited to continue reading the stories as they come out. I feel like the mix of Anastasia and Beauty and the Beast worked well. The characters are great and have lively personalities. I liked the cast of side characters a lot and am excited to see where Kastian and Odessa end up.

The art for each chapter was beautiful and added so much to the story even if it spoiled a little bit of where the chapter was heading. Chapter 21 took me out and I was NOT expecting that.
