~ ARC REVIEW ~

I have a new favourite Beauty and the Beast retelling! This book surpassed my expectations in so many ways! What if Belle escaped the Beast? She goes on to live her life and years later, her granddaughter must, reluctantly, break the curse.

The result is an intense and spicy tale! I honestly thought I understood the curse but things weren't all as they seemed and the revelation blew my mind. The FMC is hilarious, sassy, and not totally down for the scheme. But she's in a predicament and is made an offer she can't really say no to.

Let's talk about the romance for a minute. Spicy in the first couple chapters? Yes, please. Forbidden romantic tension throughout? Hello! This author had her claws in me! If you like well balanced spice and plot, this is a book you will want to pick up! On that note, friends, you will want to be careful reading this book in public. This book is not sneaky with those chapter headers đŸ„”

Holy shit. This is definitely gonna be the new big fantasy series. I could not put this down. Kate does an amazing job of perfectly incorporating the best scenes from Beauty and the Beast & Anastasia. The spice was SPICING. The banter was off the charts as well as the sexual tension. And the side characters to die for (can’t wait to read their love stories). Truly I have not a single negative thing to say. Kate really hit it out of the park with this one. Absolute perfection. So privileged to be able to have an ARC of this.

This is the second book I have read by Kate and I loved it just as much as I loved the first book I read!  Kate took two fairytales and mixed them together into a magical world that I just wanted to jump into and live in, I mean as long as I wasn’t born in Vernallis and cursed. 😂 But really the world and story are beautiful!

What happens when your one night stand kidnaps you and then becomes forbidden because you end up engaged to his brother? The tension in the book between Alix and Daemon was so hot. He knew he shouldn’t but he wanted her so much. But he kidnapped her because one he thought she was someone else and then when he found out she wasn’t who he thought he needed her to stay to be that person in order to break the curse that was over the kingdom!

I loved everything about this book and I can’t wait for book two in the series and the rest of the series for that matter!!!

“He looks how I feel - like I’m dying every time we’re together and not touching. He makes me feel crazy - but he likes crazy girls.”

This is an incredibly fun, spicy, easy romantasy read. The Beauty and the Beast Easter eggs are liberally sprinkled throughout and fun to come across, with a handful of Anastasia movie references as well. Because Alix gets pulled from our world into fae, the chatty narrative voice full of contemporary references felt natural and fun rather than out of place like in other books.

I LOVED Alice and Daemon together. They’re both solid MCs on their own, but their connection just crackles with electricity from the get go.

Rating: 4.75/5
Spice: 3.5/5

Thank you Kate King for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

“Would you rather that your one night stand kidnapped you and took you to a castle full of monsters, or that you’re really hallucinating in a mental hospital amidst a divorce-induced psychotic break?”

I signed up for the book the SECOND I heard it was Anastasia meets Beauty and the Beast and it did not disappoint. As an obsessed fan of both movies, there were moments where I could vividly visualize the scene that inspired a specific part of the book, yet everything was still so unique and unpredictable.

I was absolutely captivated by the characters and the tension between the FMC and MMC was intense. He had me absolutely drooling at times. If you like a dark touch-her-and-RIP MMC, this is definitely the book for you. He swings from sweet statements like “As long as I’m breathing, no one will touch you” to only-okay-in-books growled promises of what he’ll do to anyone who touches her and then to her afterward. Either way, I was here for it!

I’m fully invested in this universe now and can’t wait to see what comes next! (The next one is The Little Mermaid meets The Princess Bride - yes please!)

My Review- This was an interesting book to read and I had fun. You have Alixandria whose husband has cheated on her so she decides to move and help her grandma and maybe change her life for the better. While she gets to her grandma she meets a hot stranger has a one-night stand and then ends up in a fae world. This was a fun read the two main characters have awesome chemistry and banter and the spicey parts were good, there are so many Beauty and the Beast references that I love. But I do wish it was more of a Beauty and the Beast storyline I thought that the main male was going to be the beast and not a bodyguard character and I do wish their relationship more than sexual tension. I wish there was more to the story it needed to be longer. This was a great start to the series and I can't wait to see what else happens.
Thank you Kate King for an Arc
