I was so invested in the story.
I found the world building INSANE, with all the other-borns and the social positions of the Silts. As a fan of Greek mythology - specifically on the Moirai/Fates -, I had high expectations and they were more than met.
The characters were all likeable in a certain way. They all had flaws, which I enjoy the most when I read.

I just love it when I can find a unique YA fantasy that isn’t too cringey. Because deep in my heart of hearts I do still have such a soft spot for YA and this one was so good. The shining feature of this book was the world building. Based on Greek mythology, with a futuristic dystopian twist on the usual fantasy tropes, and with real world issues sprinkled in for good measure, this was a refreshing new fantasy that I thoroughly enjoyed and probably could have read in one sitting if I’d had the time.
My one complaint is probably how overdramatic everything is to Io, her reactions and dramatic declarations for everything were a teensy bit eyerolly, and therein lies the usual YA cringe. But despite that I felt that the fantasy world-building just took center stage. If you like books like Legendborn, Ember in the Ashes, or Six of Crows, please check this one out!

This was clearly not for me. I hate finished this book. It was a CHORE. So much going on yet nothing at all and too many names for all the things. I think I might be in a mood…and this just wasn’t it.
