"Maybe I ache, but you do, too. Your measuring stick is about to burst."
"You mean my measuring log."

Alaroc and Taliyah were quite a pair. Gena Showalter and J.R. Ward are two of my favorite authors with entirely different writing styles. Jumping into this book shortly after finishing Ward's newest release was a little jarring but I adjusted after a couple of chapters. I truly enjoyed this book and the cameo of the Skyhawk sisters. I think Showalter should definitely have a series dedicated to Harpies. She writes them so well. I will definitely be revisiting the Lords of the Underworld series after this book.

Without reading the background stories, this plot is incredibly hard to follow. Characters are so-so. 345 is ok. Ending is remarkably touching for a silly book, but lamely sets up future books.

Good start to a new series. I like almost everything by Gena, and this book was no exception. It was a fun, sexy read and I really liked the dynamic between Roc and Taliah. Looking forward to learning more about the other warlords.

Demn, discovered another author to quench my paranormal romance thirst. Good lord the chemistry was insane, like I actually appreciated the gradual progress with doses of guilt that came up with the uncanny attraction Roc and Taliyah had for each other. And the smut, oh boiii insanely goooood !

If you’re looking for your next super spicy book, this is it! A mostly fantasy but partly urban fantasy adult romance, this was definitely a fun book to read.

Taliyah is a fierce-as-can-be harpy who is determined to slay her new, godlike husband, Roc, after her captures and imprisons her people. Sparks fly from the very beginning as they bicker, fight, and seduce each other through a marriage meant to be a sacrifice.

Taliyah had a ton of sass and bite, though I did enjoy her as a character. Roc was just as broody and ferocious as he was built up to be. These two were quite the power couple, though I found their actual romance to move way too quickly. This is partly due to a trope revealed later in the book, but I still had fun with it.

The world building is based off mythology and isn’t overly complex, as most readers will be looking for romance. And it is VERY spicy. So if you are looking for a thrilling, erotic read, THE WARLORD has you covered!
