I didn’t enjoy this as much as the others, but it was still really good. I found some of the stuff with bunny quite genuinely upsetting, but I thought some of the other plot points were a little too obvious to see coming. Not as laugh out loud funny as the others. Really looking forward to firewater blues though, the pure Bunny books are definitely my favourites as I find Paul and Brigit a little one dimensional.

3.5 stars rounded up.
To be quite frank, I had to stop reading this book about 33% through because I was upset at everything going on (most probably brought on by work stress making me overly emotional, I don't know), which was incredibly annoying because I wanted to know what was going to happen.
I picked it back up maybe a few weeks later with a slight emotional distance, but thankfully didn't affect my enjoyment of the overall story.
Which was great.
The pacing was fairly cracking in spite of the random flash backs. McDonnell's flash backs seemed to seamlessly move the story along and I loved the tidbits here and there.
At the end of the book, there was a note from McDonnell to read [b:Angels in the Moonlight|35967997|Angels in the Moonlight|Caimh McDonnell|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1502266632s/35967997.jpg|57529804] before reading this book and I fairly swore. Though I've started the prequel and have already concluded that I'm glad that I didn't.

Spoiler
about Bunny's past (is this a spoiler? I don't know, but shall hedge my bet)At the end of the book, there was a note from McDonnell to read [b:Angels in the Moonlight|35967997|Angels in the Moonlight|Caimh McDonnell|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1502266632s/35967997.jpg|57529804] before reading this book and I fairly swore.
