Oh my god! This is a 6-star read! I sobbed both from joy and sadness. It was amazing to read all these POVs and the plot was plotting.

2024 reread: so so brilliant. i’d forgotten how beautifully sarah j maas writes before rereading throne of glass this year but i feel like she isn’t given enough credit for it.
idgaf about the SJM haters because their notion of SJM and her books gets messed up by reading ACOTAR first when that is probably her most boring book (as is most of that series sans a court of silver flames which i LOVE). so then they think she’s a bad writer when that’s just a bad example and the throne of glass series (esp books 2-6) are brilliantly crafted, from the character development to the expansion of the world she’s created & irs magic system. (which is why id never recommend for someone to start with ACOTAR first as a person who has read all of her books)
another criticism that i find incredibly stupid is people saying she is racist for “not having POC in her books” just because (for the most part) race isn’t the thing that divides people in this series. it’s literally fae vs human. and i think that argument is pretty invalid considering there is only 1 white person in this entire book.
