This was a really cute book! As the author calls it, a stabby little mermaid retelling. It was a unique world and I really loved the main characters!

Some of the lingo was hard to follow, as merfolk aren’t typically my creature of choice, this was my first one! But i enjoyed how intricately the world was built! The romance was sweet and we got some good spice! This was a perfect palette cleanser in between large series. Definitely recommend!

(Disclaimer: the author is a close friend of mine & so this is definitely a biased review.)

I'm not sure that I've ever read a mermaid fantasy novel before, and now I'm wondering why the hell not, because I (and my Ariel obsessed inner child) LOVED this! The underwater setting is uniquely crafted and vividly described. You can tell that Liesl put a lot of thought and research into crafting it. The plot and romance are very well paced and make it hard to put down, especially with nice, short chapters. And the romance of course was delightfully spicy. Hopefully Liesl gets her next book out into the world soon!!

As a child The Little Mermaid was one of my favourite animated movies, so to say I had high hopes was an understatement. Having never read a mermaid fantasy book before rhis was the first time dipping my toes into unknown waters.

I'm so surprised that this was a debut novel as it was sophisticated and incredibly mesmerising. I have to say Liesl did such an amazing job crafting such a thoroughly captivating and intriguing read. The storyline was descriptive and well balanced between world building, plot, romance and building characters stories without being over the top.

The action is there right from the start of the book, and the intrigue doesn't let up for the rest of the book - with added plot twists sprinkled in throughout the storyline to keep you invested.

The plot will grab you from the beginningand you will be hooked, a really unique retelling with some of the usual favourite tropes and a sprinkling of mermaid spice. Not to mention an MMC who falls hard first.

Thank you to author Liesl West for the ARC!

Confusing world building, sometimes cringey, but I enjoyed the plot

I finally got around to finishing this book, and I LOVED it. The spicy scenes were spicy indeed. And I loved getting to watch the characters grow and develop throughout the story. I can't wait to see more of Soren and Enna.

This was like a dark version of the Little Mermaid, and Princess and the Pauper, but darker, and with a dead princess.

I found this book by chance, and I am so glad I did. I absolutely loved reading about Enna, and Soren. I love that Enna is a badass death-dealer in the Abyssal realm, and that Soren has fell in love with this feisty little beach dancer as he often called her.

The plot for the book was fantastic, and it had me wanting to throw away all my duties to keep reading and finding out what would happen.

**Disclaimer: I read an early copy of this book. My review is purely my own opinion and is in no way influenced by the author.**
I really am such a sucker for a dark little mermaid retelling. They’re so enticing and this one was no different.
I thought this retelling had a very unique dark background. There was betrayal, intrigue, and many secrets to unfold. The plot was twisted and messy and the climax was incredibly tense and powerful.
Don’t be swayed by a 3.5 star review- I genuinely enjoyed reading this story and was keen to finish it. Was it flawless? No, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so. It was interesting, entertaining, and clever. I really do love a vicious and wicked FMC.
I enjoyed this story and if you like a dark fantasy with spice, I think you’d enjoy it too!

The way I absolutely ate up these 2 MCs omg. Respectfully, I wanna be in the middle of a Enna and Soren sandwich, please and thank you. Also the villain situation is like.. kinda not the way you think it's gonna go and that was really captivating for me.
