It was such a long read for me, i really thought about dnf'ng this book but i Didn't!i stick to it till the end and NO! THIS BOOK DIDN'T DISAPPOINTED ME! The way i felt real thrill while reading this book was epic! Ohh the vibe of this book is just incredible! I want this book to convert to a movie! Damn this prince soren is so cinnamon roll and soft! I'm already in love with them! This book had me on edge, the suspense thriller was on point! I could imagine each and every single word. Loved every part of this book! Its funny, hot and thrill! Odissa is such a pick me, gurl like what? Cant you understand that he's not interested in you! Why acting like beeitchh! The way the author expressed emotions in this book was so heartbreaking, rage, anger, sadness, love which was forbidden fruit. So gentleness! I loved each part of this book! I never thought mermaid books would be this beautiful, intense and hot!

I havenβt read many mermaid books, so I was coming in pretty blind and not really knowing what to expect.. but omg- I was HOOKED from the first page. Literally, the first sentences of each chapter at the beginning of the book had me like "oh shit?"
This is a dark Little Mermaid retelling, and it was perfectly executed- especially for a debut!! Lieslβs writing is beautiful and descriptive. It flows so effortlessly, that you canβt help but feel like youβre underwater and βa part of [their] world.β π Sometimes you go into a new fantasy that immediately seems overwhelming and confusing, but the ocean, the merfolk world, and the voice magical system here were depicted so eloquently with all the action and fun sprinkled in that you donβt even realize youβre still in the *world building* part of the story.
I immediately fell in love with the characters- you have a badass, black cat mermaid who doesnβt take shit, and you have our sexy, golden retriever merman prince who falls first- I mean, what else could you want in a forbidden romance under water?? I loved the darker aspects that made the story thrilling, but I also loved all of the cute banter and sweet moments with these two that had me blushing and curling my toesπ€ hehehe. Also, the side characters? -just perfect!!
This was such a fun read, especially for someone who grew up loving The Little Mermaid and now ready for a darker and spicier version with a killer siren and a hunky, sweet merman prince!
