Its a lovely book about a group of young men. It helps if you’re somewhat familiar with 'bands' the young guys get excited about, but it is about friendships, life and being young and how youth experiences carrys on into middle age. Well written and well researched.

Wow! The second half of this book is stunning with a beautiful yet sombre ending. Although the beginning is a little weaker, what Andrew O'Hagan does do build off of it is nothing short of spectacular. There are few works I've read that capture the depth of friendship and love between those friends. I couldn't read this without thinking about what I would do in these circumstances. I would absolutely recommend this, but beware, it's going to test you emotionally.
