The Cinderella trope just isn’t for me but I do appreciate that there was a significant passage of time and that we moved a bit beyond Cinderella when the time jumped though it was still very much damsel in distress vibes. Benedict is not likable at all in a comparison of the book and the show, which is tragic.

The only thing that held this book back from getting 5 stars is the number of times I was forced to roll my eyes that the author would choose to take advantage of the overplayed Cinderella story in the middle of an already well-established series. The book did find a small amount of redemption with a few good twists and turns away from the traditional story, but it was difficult for me to get through the first ~20% of the book.

A sweet Cinderella retelling with a Bridgerton flare. At first, it was a little too on the nose with the Cinderella of it all, but after a bit, it was just a sweet love story with my third favorite Bridgerton boy.

For me this was my least favorite of the first three bridgerton books, though the climax was satisfying. There was too much of a power difference between Benedict and Sophia for this to be romantic to me.

It's delightful and I had a lot of fun reading it. Sophie's great! It feels a bit rushed near the end. I'm not a fan of how the jail scene played out -- feels a bit all over the place. Violet Bridgerton is a gem :)
