While I love Coates' non-fiction work, this one didn't grab me in the same way. I would say that Coates is more of an illuminating author than an entertaining one.

This was an absolutely beautifully written book that I know I'll read again. And Joe Morton did a fabulous job narrating. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be the last. This is a beautifully written story about a brutal time in history.

Very well done and these characters will stay with me for a very long time.
