Amazing book!
Non-fiction but yet I now know more about Greek mythology than ever.
To repeat the author's conclusion, Pandora brought complexity to the world and that is true of all women in this book, some are murderous, some are victims, some are literally monsters, but they are much more complicated than 3000 years of stories as told by men led us to believe.

This was a fantastic, engaging and really well done refreshing look at women in Greek myth. I particularly enjoyed the connections she made between ancient and modern - such as reference to the amazing 1981 movie Clash of the Titans and even a video of Beyonce. Rather than a dry, academic dissection of how women have been misrepresented in myth, these pieces individually examine and ask questions of why certain texts differ from others and is done so in such a way that is entertaining as well as fascinating. I laughed out loud at many of her cheeky asides, but I also paused often to marvel at the depth of her queries.

As someone who’s been struggling to get into a wider range of books (and not just novels) I found this book extremely interesting and easy to read. The flow is incredible and the way in which Haynes dissects myths in a humorous yet meticulous manner was enjoyable to read.

I knew nothing about classics going into this book, but the writing was captivating and easy to follow! Great for fans of Greek myth and for people who try to find women in all literary traditions.

A manifest of the most badass women throughout Greek mythology. Often times, we forget the origin stories of the most iconic characters in Greek mythology leaving these women to be portrayed as minor, monstrous creatures (mostly by men), this book expertly recounts the uncensored versions of these tales.

I am a big fan of Natalie Haynes, so was really excited to read her newest book. It did not disappoint. It was such a fascinating read and incredibly enlightening (especially as a student of Classics) to be given an opportunity to understand women in the Greek myths in a completely different light. Absolutely loved it, and would definitely recommend it.
