Such an intense read but highly recommend the ENDING i sat there in shock when

Lord Luckenbill brought out the ring

tbf i didnt trust him but still and some of the surgical scenes in this were so detailed it made it such an uneasy read but so compelling i was so happy that

Silas and Dauphine and Mary escaped at the end

also

kinda got this odd gut feeling with the mask men that one of them was george and i KNEW IT . so mad that he turned out to be so awful and no reprochassions for him in the end

this book destroyed me but in a good way just wanted to give Silas a hug also the dynamic between Silas and the groundskeeper i died that was the only thing keeping me sane through that crazy scene with headmaster

literally about to fucking cut open mary and drill into her skull

jeez was just a lot to take it but really really good read - definitely look at the warnings and take them seriously before reading

This is immediately going on my favorite books of all time list. Beautifully written with a well crafted story. I was so immersed in this book, and Silas is a great protagonist. I felt like a kid again because of how much I could not put this book down. I really enjoyed the queer and feminist themes as well.

I usually don't write reviews, but this book has a chokehold on me, it's like it gets better every reread I do. The concept, the writing style, the characters, just everything about TSBIT is just amazing.

Especially when Silas sliced Luckenbill's throat with that shard of glass, fuck that guy. Oh, and also fuck George, who just tries to kill their own brother like that?

I was not prepared for this book. While I loved it, I probably should have read some of the TWs before hand 😅😅. This was weird and creepy and I loved the medical aspect of it along with the gorey subject matter. Overall this was a fantastic read but again please check TWs before hand as the author handles a significant amount of tough subjects throughout the story.

One of my favorite books of all time. The representation of a queer autistic trans man in this time frame in history, plus the fantasy and horror elements... It reflected my fears and wishes back to me like a mirror. Very well written, and very scary, but so, so good.
